Two of our Elgin athletes, representing Elgin High School, made the journey down to Grangemouth to compete in the Scottish Secondary Schools Combined Events.
Gemma competed in the U14 event, which comprised 75mH (with U13 height and U15 spacing), Shot Put (U13 weight), High Jump, Long Jump and 800m. Gemma had a great day, with hurdles coming together nicely in the first event and a new PB. She was delighted to get PB after PB in High Jump. She finished the competition in 4th place overall with a total of 2060 points, a new PB in Pentathlon.
Holly competed in the U15 event, which comprised 75mH, Shot Put, High Jump, Long Jump and 800m. Holly also had a great day achieving new PBs in High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put and finally, a massive PB in 800m. She finished with a total score of 3074, a new Pentathlon PB, which ranks her as first in the UK for U15G pentathlon. Holly won GOLD! Simply outstanding.
Both girls were happily surprised to get a visit from one of their supporters, their Headteacher, Mr McCulloch, at the competition.
